Mesa County Search and Rescue Control, Inc. is a cooperative organization of 8 volunteer nonprofit groups who work together to search for and rescue the populace of Mesa County and the State of Colorado.
Mesa County Search and Rescue is an all-volunteer group based in Grand Junction, Colorado. The team is headquartered at the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office in downtown Grand Junction. Our primary response area includes the Colorado Canyons National Conservation Area, the Grand Mesa National Forest, the Uncompahgre National Forest, the Colorado National Monument, numerous Bureau of Land Management conservation and wildlife areas as well as a vast expanse of remote country totaling over 3,300 square miles – almost 3/4 of which is public-owned. Mesa County is an outdoor enthusiast paradise -- from 4,500 ft. high desert to 11,200 alpine-type environment. Mesa County SAR has dealt with unique challenges by utilizing a specialty approach to SAR management.
